Axiom Trade in the UK
What UK readers should know before using Axiom Trade: what Axiom’s terms reportedly say about UK users, the FCA warning about a different firm called “AxiomTrade”, how HMRC taxes crypto, and which protections you don’t get.
Check Axiom’s terms first. A Fintelegram report says Axiom’s Terms of Use list the United Kingdom as a restricted jurisdiction, alongside the United States and Russia. We couldn’t load the terms ourselves to confirm the current wording. Read them at axiom.trade before you sign up, and don’t use a VPN to get around any restriction.
Can UK residents use Axiom Trade?
Owning and trading crypto is legal in the UK. Whether Axiom accepts UK users is set by Axiom’s own Terms of Use, and, as reported above, those terms may exclude UK residents. Using a service against its terms can breach your agreement with that service and put your account at risk. If the terms do restrict the UK, UK readers shouldn’t sign up.
The FCA “AxiomTrade” warning is about a different firm
The Financial Conduct Authority has a warning about an unauthorised firm called AxiomTrade. We checked the FCA warning page directly:
| Firm name | AxiomTrade |
|---|---|
| Websites named | axiomtradeapp.com, axiomtradeapp.pro |
| First published | 19 May 2025 |
| FCA status | “This firm is not authorised by us” |
The warning doesn’t name axiom.trade or axiomtrade.co.uk. It’s an example of how scammers use names that sound like real products. Only use axiom.trade, and see is Axiom Trade safe? for other lookalikes to avoid.
Regulation and protections
- We found no sign that Axiom is authorised by the FCA. You can check any firm on the FCA register.
- Crypto held or traded on Axiom isn’t covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).
- You can’t take a complaint about Axiom to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
- Axiom is non-custodial, so if you lose your recovery phrase, there’s no one to recover your funds.
Tax on crypto trading in the UK
HMRC treats most crypto disposals as events for Capital Gains Tax. According to GOV.UK’s guidance, a disposal includes:
- selling crypto for money
- swapping one token for another, which covers most memecoin trades
- using crypto to pay for goods or services
- giving it away (except to a spouse or civil partner)
Rewards such as staking income may be taxed as income instead. Frequent traders can create hundreds of taxable events, so export your trade history regularly. Check the current annual exempt amount and rates on GOV.UK, or speak to a tax adviser.
