How to convert USDC to SOL on Axiom

Axiom’s wallet has a Convert button that swaps between SOL and USDC on Solana. This guide covers where it is, why a conversion sometimes fails with “Convert failed — nothing was sent”, how USDC on Hyperliquid perps is different, and how to get USDC or SOL out of Axiom to an exchange or Phantom.

Most common fix: a failed convert is almost always a wallet with USDC but almost no SOL. Solana charges every transaction in SOL, so keep a small SOL buffer in your Axiom wallet at all times.

Where the Convert button is

  1. Open your wallet in Axiom

Log in at axiom.trade and open the wallet or portfolio view that shows your SOL and USDC balances.

  2. Choose Convert

Pick the direction: USDC to SOL, or SOL to USDC. Axiom’s docs describe Convert as the way to switch between SOL and USDC on Solana inside the wallet.

  3. Enter an amount and confirm

Leave a little SOL behind for fees. Confirm, then wait for the transaction to land. It usually takes a few seconds.

Convert is a normal Solana swap under the hood, so the same priority fee and slippage settings apply to it as to any trade.

Why “Convert failed — nothing was sent”

The message means the transaction never confirmed on-chain, so your balances are unchanged. Nothing has left your wallet. The usual causes, roughly in order:

CauseHow to tellFix
Not enough SOL for feesYour SOL balance is near zero, even though you hold USDC.Deposit a small amount of SOL (0.01–0.02 SOL is plenty for many transactions) and retry.
Converting your entire SOL balanceYou chose Max on SOL to USDC.Leave some SOL behind. The transaction itself needs SOL to pay for.
New token account needs rentYou have never held USDC (or SOL) in this wallet before.Solana needs a tiny SOL deposit to create the token account. Keep a buffer and retry.
Network congestionOther trades are also slow or failing.Raise the priority fee and retry, or wait a few minutes.
Slippage too tightLarge amount, thin moment in the market.Allow slightly more slippage or split the conversion into smaller amounts.

If it keeps failing, look up your wallet on Solscan. If no transaction appears, nothing was sent and you can retry safely. If a transaction appears as failed, the reason shown there, often “insufficient funds for rent” or “insufficient lamports”, confirms it is a SOL buffer problem.

Solana USDC vs perps USDC

Axiom shows two kinds of USDC and they are not interchangeable without a step in between.

  • USDC on Solana sits in your Axiom wallet. You can convert it to SOL, send it to an exchange, or use it to fund perps.
  • USDC on Hyperliquid is your perps margin. Axiom’s SOL–USDC button converts SOL into USDC on Hyperliquid for perps trading. To get it back, you convert Hyperliquid USDC to USDC on Solana, which Axiom’s docs say takes about 5 minutes.

If you are trying to convert USDC to SOL and the option is missing, check which balance you are looking at. Perps USDC has to come back to Solana first.

How to withdraw USDC from Axiom

Axiom is non-custodial, so a withdrawal is just a transfer from your Axiom wallet to another address. You have two routes:

  1. Send USDC directly. Use the exchange’s Solana (SPL) USDC deposit address. Sending to an Ethereum or Base USDC address will lose the funds. Keep some SOL in the wallet to pay for the transfer.
  2. Convert to SOL first, then send SOL. Simpler if your exchange lists SOL but not Solana USDC, and SOL is the asset every Solana exchange supports.

Either way, send a small test amount first and check the first and last characters of the address after pasting. The full process, including pending withdrawals, is in Axiom Trade deposits and withdrawals.

How to send SOL from Axiom to Phantom

  1. Copy your Phantom address

In Phantom, choose Receive on the Solana network and copy the address.

  2. Send from Axiom’s wallet

In Axiom, choose Send or Withdraw, paste the Phantom address, and send a small test amount.

  3. Send the rest

Once the test arrives in Phantom, send the remainder, leaving a little SOL in Axiom if you plan to keep trading there.

Backup route: Axiom’s docs recommend you can import your Axiom recovery phrase into Phantom, Rabby or Solflare. That gives you direct access to the same on-chain wallet, which is useful if Axiom’s site is ever unavailable. Only ever type a recovery phrase into a wallet app you installed from its official source.

Convert and USDC FAQ

Why can’t I convert my USDC to SOL on Axiom?

Usually because the wallet has no SOL to pay the network fee. Deposit a small amount of SOL and try again. If the balance you’re looking at is perps USDC on Hyperliquid, bring it back to Solana first.

Does Axiom charge a fee to convert USDC to SOL?

Convert is a swap, so expect Solana network fees plus any priority fee you have set. Axiom’s docs don’t list a separate conversion charge. Check the quoted amount before confirming.

How long does converting perps USDC back to Solana take?

Axiom’s docs say about 5 minutes for Hyperliquid USDC to arrive as USDC on Solana.

Can I deposit USDC into Axiom instead of SOL?

Axiom’s sign-up docs describe depositing SOL. If you send Solana USDC to your Axiom address it will show in the wallet, but you still need SOL in the wallet to do anything with it.

Is “Convert failed — nothing was sent” a bug?

Usually not. It is Axiom telling you the transaction did not go through and your funds are untouched. The fix is almost always adding SOL for fees or raising the priority fee.
